Baby Stats

Well I know I have not been good at updating this thing but I am going to get better. At least once a week from now on. Let me give you some info on our little man...

Birth weight was 9 pounds 4 ounces, 21.75 inches
7 weeks old (now) he weighs 14 pounds 4 ounces, 24 inches!

He is in the 97% for weight, 77% for length and 66% for head circumference

I guess you could just say he is BIG!! But what can you expect with how big his dad is?

He has started cooing and smiles all the time. He only wakes up once a night to eat and is really good at holding his head up. He loves to be bathed but hates getting out of the bath and being cold.
Every morning when he wakes up (between 6 and 7) we cuddle and nap and he eats in our big rocking recliner. It is my favorite part of the day becuase he is always so happy when we wake up.

I got back to work on the 30th of November part time. Everyday from 1-4pm. I thought this would be the best way to transition him to his amazing caregiver (Stacy) and help transition her, the other kids she cares for and well ME! I am VERY nervous and sad to leave him. For some reason I thought I would get bored or want to go back to work but that is just not the case. There are so many fun things to do with him: mommy and me groups, play dates, library book reading and baby sign classes, walks plus all the other home stuff. Maybe someday I will be able to stay home or just work part time....

Enjoy the pics. Love you all..

My Birth Experience

I woke up on the 29th and was not feeling very good (I was also very upset that I was still prego) so I decided to stay home from work that day. I slept most of the morning but at about 11 am I started getting contractions. I thought this was not big deal because I had been having contractions on and off for the last two months. So I just laid on the couch and watched the boob tube for a few hours.

By 2pm I started thinking this was different but I just waited because I was not ok with another false alarm. At 3pm I called my mom because she was out of school. Once she heard me going through a contraction she started thinking that this was the real thing. We stayed on the phone until Ryan got home at about 6:30pm

*** Side note** I never called and told Ryan I was having contractions because I did not want him to leave work and have it be a false alarm! On his way home from work he stopped at the store, got a papa Murphy's pizza and then came home. All the time I was in labor and he did not know it.+***

When he got home my mom talked to him and he started taking over the timing of contractions. They were between 7 and 5 min apart at this point. Around 8pm I called and paged the doctor to see if I should go in. Right after that I started vomiting from the pain (oh yeah the contractions were VERY painful. I had not moved off the couch since 3pm!)

I told Ryan that we needed to go to the hospital. Being the good husband he is he told me we needed to wait until the contractions were consistently 3 min apart (this was our plan, so I spent as little time as possible in labor at the hospital). He also wanted to wait until the doctor called back. Well by 8:30 no doctor and the contractions were still 5 min apart but I was ready to leave (and Ryan was done cooking the pizza and eating dinner!)

We arrived at the hospital around 9pm and were all check in in by 9:30.

They checked to see my progress and I was only 3 cm! I had been 2cm for the last month! I started panicking because I could not handle 20 more hours of contractions! Because I was only three cm they did not admit me they gave me an hour for observation and to progress. I got into the jacuzzi tub and waited and cried! While in the tub I tried to convince Ryan that I wanted the epi (I REALLY did not want to get one). I was just so scared that everything was going to get worse and would last for hours. I knew I could not handle that. Ryan stuck to our plan and tried to talk me out of it but it did not work.

At 11pm they took me out of the tub to check my progress and I was 5 cm! I decided I wanted the epi but they had to admit me and get the IV in so I could not get it yet. It took three people and a long time to get the IV in and then my great nurse gave me a shot of some fantastic narcotic.... I got about 20 min of less pain and I could almost sleep through the contractions. When that wore off I needed to go to the bathroom.

It took a while for the nurse to come to take me to the bathroom and when I got to the toilet I suddenly felt the need to PUSH! The nurse said "don't push on the toilet!" When they got me to the bed they checked me and I was 9.5cm! Morgan arrived right as I started pushing and Ryan had to go to the car to get our bags and camera! When he got back they broke my water and I said no way to the epi and we started pushing. About 20 min later Landon Keith Williams was born!

Landon Keith Williams born at 12:54 am on 9-30-09 (his due date).
